A mandatory improvement on Lifeboat Release and Retrieval System (LRRS) was implemented in May 2011 by IMO to enhance the safety during lifeboat launch and evacuation to all ship owners and ship builders. Vanguarde Lifeboat, a world’s leading lifeboat manufacturer goes above and beyond the responsibility of a lifeboat manufacturer. We serve as a reminder to all ship owners and ship builders for all the latest regulations made by the Authorities.

IMO has adopted amendments to SOLAS Chapter III and the LSA Code, as well as related Guidelines to all manufacturers, ship owners and ship builders for a mandatory change and improvement on the Lifeboat Release and Retrieval System (LRRS). It is now a requirement that ship owners and ship builders to replace their old system with new LRRS not later than the next scheduled dry-docking after 1 July 2014, but no later than 1 July 2019.

With extensive research and experiment, Vanguarde has developed a user-friendly ‘Csafe’ hook which performs maximum safety and quality to counter all climates and conditions. All Csafe hooks of size 5 tons, 8.5 tons & 10 tons have been tested and compliant with the latest LSA Code Amendments as amended by IMO/MSC. 1/Circ. 1392 Regulations. The hook is equipped with a unique technology ‘Fail Safe’ design to prevent unintentional operation of on-load release. All Vanguarde’s Csafe hooks are capable of being retrofitted onto most makes of lifeboat.

Vanguarde operates a global service network with service centres located at most of the major ports. And, a team of highly-skilled and experienced engineers has gained us several successful proven records of delivering high quality hook retrofit services for our customers worldwide. We save time and ease the hassle for the customers by offering them a comprehensive and personalized solution of their hook retrofit project.

Recently our engineers carried out a Csafe hook retrofit project for one of our regular customers in Singapore. The team took only 3 weeks from start to finish covering survey, design, class and flag state approvals as well as carrying out the retrofit testing and overhaul work required. “We are very proud of the work we have done in such a short period of time. This as a real team effort and helped demonstrate Vanguarde’s capability to deliver. We received excellent feedback from the client and are gearing up for the expected increase in hook retrofit work as the full impact of LSA 1392 takes effect”, says CEO Alastair Bisset.

At Vanguarde, we provide customers with reliability and peace of mind, and to meet customer demands with
speed and integrity.
